I love rainy days. They are like stolen days. Can't go anywhere and no one will visit. I can't wait to have a fire. Last year our chimney caught fire. Sounded like a jet engine. Anyway it cracked the chimney. I've been dragging my feet to have someone come and fix it.
I am a fuddy duddy, I don't like cats on me. Dogs belong on the floor. Or in their own beds. Scout

And ferrets go up your pantlegs.
I love rainy days and I even like snowy days -- I don't like it when the snow has melted, refrozen, snowed some more and then looks like an alien landscape that will make you fall on you a** or wreck your car.
And it's heavy to shovel.
You cracked your chimney??? That sounds expensive to fix.

My dog, belongs on the floor, but he won't hear of it.LOL I have tried, the closest I get to him minding, is to tell him I'm going to get you, and he will jump down till I leave the room, only to get back on, he will jump on my bed and lay at the foot and snore, but when its his bed time, he prefers his own, bed and crate, so thats a win for me. Some of you may have seen my chunky monkey, but here he is making cookies with the grandkids.

I know I love that picture, the dog has as much floor on the top of his head that their hands have on them, he was on his toes to see above the counter.. cookie dough, was being handed out. I love those boys, my gift from God for doing something right, but I don't know what that was.

Went to a pastel workshop today. Made a mess but had fun. We had to do a sunset over water. I think I picked up a few tips, but if I know me, I'll forget all of them by tomorrow.
One I learned.... after laying in the water colors, take the side of your hand and pull the colors down from the horizon line down into the water. Then take the side of your hand and go across only one time to scatter the water a bit and make it settle into looking like water instead of just a reflection. After you pull across once you can go back in and make small lines with a light almost white color to show the sun hitting the water. cool exercise. I enjoyed it.

I'm INTO my cats!
So you seriously make water...water ? with your hand -- you don't use another tool? That's cool!

Well, after alternately dragging my feet and obsessively working into the dark of night (okay, early morning), getting in trouble with my doctor, and repairing my tweaked on bones, I've finally begun weaving my very first double loop-in-loop chain in fine silver. I wove a single one a few years ago, and really had a lot of fun with it, but I FORGOT how seriously labor intensive these bad boys are. I don't even know how many hours I've put into just prepping the links for this process. So yay! Weaving at last!

I only have about three inches woven so far, but yes. I'll take a photo soon.

I just got an ad from Jerry's Artarama for 60% off canvases. I don't use them but thought I'd pass it on to those of you who do.
Everyone doing OK? I am just drawing and practicing portraits. Lots of quick freehand sketches. It's true that if one practices... they get better! Scout

Ever since the fire I haven't bought any new supplies except for those that I had to buy for the workshop. I worry about our economy and what its going to take to get us back on track. So many business' are closing. Bostwick's, a local furniture company that has been in business for over 50 years is closing this month. They advertise extensively in all the surrounding counties that they have 6 floors of furniture ... and they do. The sale started yesterday. I can't think of anything I need. I'd like to sell some of the things I have already.
I've been into a recyle mood of late. Our local private school is having a fall festival and are asking for donations to go in their fall store. I'm thinking of doing some fall flower arrangements in some containers I have laying around. Maybe something for a Thanksgiving table with pinecones and wheat or other dry branches from the yard. That might be fun.
I recyled an old painting that wasn't successful into one I like. I showed it to you. The moral for me is to never give up on a painting even if you just have to start over.

Phyllis you are an inspiration to me. I was just reading the blog you wrote after Ronnie passed away last year. I had printed it out and put it in the book the Funeral Home gave me. What you wrote means the world to me and I will cherish that prayer for my family always.
I'm trying to do the recycle thing too right now. With moving into the new house it seems the natural thing to sort of purge out things I know I will never use.
There's a small student gallery at NMU I'm going to take a lot of unused supplies and set out for free to whoever can use them. I'm only 5 minutes away from NMU campus now. It's actually bike ride-able if the weather holds up here.
Moving has been exhausting.

Angela, what a wonderful thing to do for the kids! I know they will appreciate it.
I can't remember what I wrote on my blog about Ronnie, but I am so glad it was a comfort to you. Hugs,
