New Associate Memberships

We have launched our new Artspan Associate memberships. Associate memberships will allow individuals with their own sites, not Artspan template sites, to have 4 of their images (the same number as Basic members) show in the Artspan search functions and to also have an image appear in the Directory. We will also be changing the Basic memberships so that basic members have an image show in the member Directories.

Pricing for the Associate Memberships is $8.95 per month (10% off if annual payment) for Associate membership if they choose to have Artspan also host their site. And for those Associate members who choose to keep their current host, the cost will be $35 a year. The $25 set up fee does apply.

We would very much appreciate your help in getting the word out, and our referral policy remains the same for these memberships. Refer a member and get a free month.

New Site Design, Directories and Forum

After six months of development, the new site design is finally done. It's in testing mode. You can see the new homepage here http://artists.artspanstage.com/newsite_combined/ . Seems this process takes longer each time we do it. There were four main factors that went into the design: 1) it had to be an attractive design, 2) it had to clearly show what Artspan was about, 3) it needed to be easy to navigate and, last but not least, 4) it had to be optimized for search engines.

A big change will be the addition of a number of new directories. Currently, we have only an A-Z Directory. The new directories will be: Artists, Artisans, Photographers, by Medium and by Region. Regarding the artists, artisans, etc directories, you can appear in more than one.

We also will be taking down the old Forum and putting up a new and improved Forum that should drive more traffic to Artspan and raise its visibility. We will let you know more on that and will ask to please participate in at least one of the threads to help get it going. We will also be looking for moderators for each of the threads….the old Forum saw a lot of spamming

Let Us Know…

Please let us know if you have a significant event happening in your professional life. We will post it here in the newsletter. Shows, articles in newspapers, magazines or online, awards-we want to share your good news! Also don't forget to post in the Artspan Calendar.

After decades of exploring sculpture, drawing, painting, installations and special events there was an irresistible challenge to explore digital art, hence the birth of "Electronic Paintings". Digital technology facilitates the numerous stages each painting goes through in a universe that is "more immediately responsive to the actions of the mind

Harriet van Schaik

Photography

Over the years she has become more convinced about the logic behind every scene. In nature everything seems functional; functionality defines the shape. In society it seems that culture is foremost defined by the climate and location of the country. This fact appeals greatly to Harriet and it's this logic she mainly tries to capture in her photographs
