My birdhouses are designed to be homes for small birds: wrens, chickadees, etc. They should be hung in a protected place out of reach of marauders such as cats. The male wren will make several nests, then invite the female to choose the one she likes. Once she has moved in and laid her eggs the male remains attentive until the eggs hatch, then both work to keep the nest clean and the babies fed. The lids are removable for cleaning at the end of the season.
