Escargo Table Lamp

Solid, hand carved maple in matte black with bright, solid brass details. Eschewing the natural spiral of the snail for concentric disks with chamfered edges, gives the base a cubist quality. The hand made and hand painted shade with a solid maple, hand carved frame is painted in translucent, deep honey. The Hand holds a small, illuminated bulb on a matte black rosette. The lamp eludes to the Sufi meditative dance: As one hand is turned upward to receive the blessings of Heaven, the other hand faces downward to transfer the blessings to the earth. This piece is One of a kind.
