The lake is just a ten minute drive from our house, part of preserved open space in this northern California county. A storm was on its way this particular cold and windy evening with many dark clouds , so I really didn't expect to see anything worth photographing. But I needed to walk my dog, so I went. Strolling around the lake, I discovered that the silvery-white sky reflected onto the water, making the otherwise dark water look like a silver mirror, contrasting with the reflections of the dark surrounding hills. The reflection of light on the surface of the water was almost blinding. It reminded me, once again, that even in dark times, there is great beauty to be found, and wisdom to be realized.
I'm pleased that a print of this painting was selected to hang in the executive office of the Marin Municipal Water District. (The original had already sold, but they loved the print!)
Though the original was painted with pastels, the fine art giclee reproduction is done on the highest quality satin finish canvas and therefore looks very much like an oil painting, with deep and brilliant color.
