This oil painting, which is on canvas, is of a detail of an old oak tree in the King-Swett Ranch, near Suisun, California. This property is managed by the Solano Land Trust, headquartered in Fairfield, California. It was originally conceived and painted with the intention of showing it in one of three art shows to benefit this organization, but was never actually shown because it was not finished in time. I finished it in 2013 and first showed it in the "Home for the Holidays" show at Solano Community College in Fairfield that year and in 2015, it was accepted into the Crocker Kingsley art competition at the Blueline Gallery in Roseville, California. The judge that year was Gregory Kondos.
