Striking Awareness
First in series of three oil paintings.
I had this vision, as I was flying from NY to California, that my loved ones and me were stuck in boxes, beautiful boxes, but stuck none-the-less. Then a golden cloud appeared (I think I was looking out of the airplane window) and Monkey was there, The Monkey King, in multiplicity, attacking all of our locked boxes, gonging and resonating us out of our stuckness.
Later I thought that this vision needed to be painted and expanded upon. Aren't we all "boxed in" at some point? Don't we all need to learn to live outside "the box"?
