Orbit and Maxilla

An old friend of mine, a fellow artist/novelist, lives in the mountains of New Mexico, and whenever I visit her, I'm fascinated by the little collection of small animal skulls she has found and kept. Upon close inspection, each one is like an exquisite little piece of sculpture. This particular skull is just six or eight inches long, with a pointed snout--a young deer, maybe? Oil on canvas.
