Melting Peonies

I painted this when I had been experimenting with floral's and obsessed with peonies-because they are perfectly lovely! This piece is all about the timelessly, faithful appeal of floral's but also their impermanence. They grow and bloom, but they don't last forever, eventually they will die. They will decompose and nurture other soils and other living and growing things. what makes them so beautiful is the reality that they do not last forever. The life of these flowers becomes symbolic of my own mortality , I will not last forever in his form and because of this the beauty that I create, that I live, has meaning and gives my limited days their significance. This piece will be framed in a simple and sleek black frame with white matting.
