Tribute to Heart's Wanderings: One
This work is the first in The Tribute to Heart's Wandering series honoring my artistic journey to listen to my heart. This search led me to seek out the meaning of home. To contemplate how homes pass cultures, the physical world, and lead to the spiritual.
Within these mixed media pieces, I create patterns and repetition through the use of Tunisian Mediterranean motifs and symbols. A study of the mesmerizing complexity results in revealing the natural and man-made symbols I weave throughout. My process is often tedious. I work cutting paper templates with scissors, tracing, and laying out my patterns all whilst adding details. The scenes and symbols I chose are directly related to my experiences and memories which keep me connected and bring me peace.
