The horizontal format of the bars in this piece reminds me of the long, low mid-century design that I love. The style of stitching also has that mid-mod feel, but I updated the colors to a bolder palette.
Color is always the focus of my art. The nuance between fuschia and watermelon, or chartreuse and lime can occupy an afternoon when selecting fabrics. It's what led me to begin dyeing my own fabrics, and creating quilts using simple, repetitive shapes. Color is everything.
This piece has finished edges, a hanging sleeve and rod , and is ready for installation.
