Tragedy Averted

acrylic, 1/2020

Inspired by Picasso's "Tragedy," in which the child is desperately trying to communicate something, I thought. I was moved by the climate crisis activism spearheaded by the youth this fall, and at the same time very disappointed by the failure of any actions by the world leaders. This painting about having hope for the youth and for "Turtle Island," the name for the Earth or North America among many of the indigenous nations.
