Nene - Hope

Hawaii’s official state bird, Nene is an endangered species of goose found only on the islands of Kaua‘i, ‘Oahu, Moloka‘i, Maui, and the Big Island of Hawai‘i. Closely related to the Canada Goose, Nene sport a distinctive striped neck pattern. Hawai‘i artist Mark Martel depicts the Nene pecking at a small leaf, near flowing lava at Kilauea Volcano.
