Anna In The Sacred Valley, Peru
The first of a series of paintings based on my favorite model, my daughter Anna, while she lived in Peru. Anna is a good photographer and she has agreed to let me use her photos as painting references. This also gives me motivation to work on my landscape painting skills.
This painting was very compelling for me. I love unusual lighting situations. Anna is sitting on a rock in the shadow of a mountain and, at the same time, her and the foreground are bathed in reflected light from the sun struck mountain in the background. The huge boulder behind her is partially sun struck as well.
