"(May You Live in) Interesting Times" is an abstract pop oil painting and part of the "Abstracted Pop" series. There are a number of appropriated images that have appeared in other paintings in this series including a watch, stars and stripes and an iPhone. This painting also introduces the Kremlin, a nuclear warhead and a bullet. I will leave it to the viewer to sort through these. The painting is highly colorful and allows many points of entry. It is oil paint and cold wax and allowed a translucence to many covered images. Brushes, brayers, paster tape tool and palette knives were used in the mark making. The painting is more about what you think than what I think. The sides are finished, and it is signed on the reverse and the right side.
