From the Matsaki Polychrome (circa 1475-1680+) the production of glaze-decorated, white-slipped pottery declined in the Ashiwi villages and was replaced gradually by the buff-colored pottery decorated with matte mineral paint. This is known as the Matsaki Polychrome. This pottery form is called a Corn Meal Bowl with the Matsaki design motifs, that depict nature, movement, symbolic images that the Ashiwi people had seen and painted on their vessels. This unique corn meal bowl is one of a kind with this ancient design patterns. Signed: PALOMA 7/2023 Zuni, NM
