Life at the Marina

These three pelicans live in and around the marina. They are shown resting (at left), preening (centermost) and drying out (right) on the concrete wall that forms the boundary of the marina. They are part of a group of approximately thirty pelicans. It is interesting how well pelicans have adapted to living alongside us. I was trying to capture the contrast in texture between the soft birds and the rough concrete wall beneath them.
