A Peak at La Sal Mountains

This is a studio painting that was inspired by a photo taken in Arches National Park. We got up at 3am to make sure we got to the park before sun rise and ended up so glad that we did. It was such a beautiful morning and the cloud formations were spectacular. I've been told that clouds are rare when you get this close to summer and feel fortunate that we got to experience Arches in late May. The La Sal mountains can be seen in the distance and made the landscape even more magical.

This painting is done in fine art pastels on sanded paper.
