L.J. Edginton The Art of Perception

Kerrville County, Texas. August 2019. Black and White. Original Photo taken on 35mm Nikon digital camera. Tucked away deep in the Texas Hill country on a private ranch, this tree in the photo has been identified as a "Marker Tree". Marker trees were like signposts for the indigenous people of North America and perhaps the Ancestors that came before them. While the tree grows, the branches are deliberately manipulated and bent to point towards an important location or direction, historically towards freshwater springs.
