A Systematic Rearrangement of Sherrie Levine's 'Allie Mae Burroughs'

Walker Evans originally took the photo of Allie Mae Burroughs to document the Great Depression. Sherrie Levine appropriated his image as a partial reclamation of Art History for women. Amy Adler made a drawing of Sherrie Levine's photo as a joke about appropriation. And now, as an homage to Amy Adler, Alex Harrison and I have collectively made a systematically rearranged photorealist painting of Sherrie Levine's photo. It's a comment on the nature of commentary.
