Roar - The Survey Tech

This is the offshore Norwegian Survey Tech, Roar. I asked him to hold a tool of specific to his job. I was particularly pleased with the skin tones on Roar's face. The bluish undertone still showing through the transparent light skin. The beard was repainted a number of times using brown transparent layers to convey the shadows and different tones. I used the same effect on the sweater although without too much success. I finally added the shadows and predominant colour over the glossing rather than the other way round. Although this is a modern image, Roar reminded me of Holbein's drawing of William Reskimer, a Cornish Gent combined with the portrait of the Tudor merchant, Georg Gisze surrounded by the accoutrements of his work.
