A21 Lay-by (Goat's Rue and Bramble)

Description

The second in the VERGE series, this is a botanical portrait of a small section of an unlovely litter-strewn lay-by on the A21 near Lamberhurst, Kent. Though incredibly unpromising from a distance (or indeed from the window of a passing car) on closer inspection the place had big clumps of the stunningly beautiful 'Goat's-rue' growing up to about a metre tall amongst bramble, knapweed and teasel. Oil painting on decommissioned road sign (ex-military blue directional arrow - still visible on reverse), circular, 6ocm diameter.
