Roots and Wings

The new song by the Wallflowers, Roots and Wings came up at a time when I was being hit really hard emotionally because me oldest is a high school senior. The line "I gave you roots, I gave you wings" really spoke to me just with a different meaning than in the song itself. We give out kids roots, a foundation, and then we give them wings, so they can fly off on their own.
