I have always been fascinated by the sea. It’s ever-changing moods and colors, the surf, the rocks and beaches are all wells of mystery. My art is a compilation of memories collected over my lifetime. Boyhood adventures, fishing with my father, my service in the USCG and worldwide travels as a professional consultant. My style is predominantly Contemporary Impressionism, kind of hybridized with American Realism ( I’m trying not to overthink this ! ) My subjects and imagery are mostly always centered on coastal seascapes, lakes, streams and watercraft of all shapes and sizes. Human figures are secondary but always purposeful, never gratuitous. I work with different mediums Charcoal and Ink, Gouache, Colored Pencil, Oil and Acrylic. The majority of my work has been with slow drying acrylic on canvas. I have just started using water miscible oils for their ease of clean up and the elimination of volatile spirit solvents . The results are identical. They are here to stay. My home and studio are in Jensen Beach Florida. Mark Rudolph Artist
