Laurel Lake McGuire
Laurel Lake McGuire, an artist firmly grounded in the realist tradition grew up in Gloucester, Massachusetts, with it’s strong artistic history. The artist started from a background of classic watercolor then moved to work in a layered and more solid style. Her many moves to places such as Hawaii, the Mojave Desert, New Orleans, Idaho etc. informed her selection of subjects. Not limited in her choice, she paints what delights her. Her work has been in several of the Best of Watercolor Books in the late 1990s and as a finalist in the Oct/Nov 2015 issue of International Artist and she is a member of the Idaho Watercolor Society, Nampa Art Guild and an Associate Member of Women Artists of the West. She holds signature status in Idaho Watercolor Society and Western Federation of Watercolor Societies. Recent awards include the Nora Stevens Founders Award from TWSA. She believes that art is a window that lets the viewer see through both their and the artist’s eyes.
