"Field Patches", is an acrylic / mixed media painting on stretched canvas. The canvas measures 24" x 18" and is the narrower stretched canvas that measures approximately 1/2".
As I stay in the studio with the quarantine, I am still working on a number of tighter figurative pieces, but find these landscapes to be pulling me in more and more. I typically work on a number of pieces at the same time, plus I usually have stoneware vessels ready for firing. Today I am firing 8 new handbuilt vessels.
Back to this painting, I framed this with a solid wood frame that I had in the studio, but was never used. approximately 3 1/2" front profile and 1 1/2" deep. The outer edge of the frame has scroll work which I decided to paint black ( not completely, just loose).
I find my colors are getting stronger with the length of the confinement. This canvas had a slight blemish in the cloth, so I stitched over it with canvas and other areas of stitching and french knots. The stitching into work is not limited to this. I often stitch into pieces, look at Violet Haze and others. I love texture and I have never shunned experimenting and being creative.
With the frame the outer dimension of Field Patches is 30" x 24" x 1.5"
crazy, sold the first day posted. I am so fortunate and blessed. Thank you, and please, stay safe.
