"Šiná Tópa" (Four Robes)

"Four Robes" is a woman's beaded abstract elk robe. This splendid robe was designed and beaded in honor and memory of Sitting Bull's wife. Robes were and still are used as blankets and clothing. This high quality traditionally tanned elk hide measures at 68" x 60" and weights approximately 50 pounds. This robe covers a queen size bed. This robe is also extraordinary for the spiritual significance of the elk which stands for stamina, strength, nobility, pride and survival. It also symbolizes endurance, patience and ageless wisdom. This unique one-of-a-kind piece is trademarked with my signature medallions. The abstract beaded designs represent the animal and the woman's five stages of life. The beaded method used is described as a lane/lazy stitch. The stitching cannot be seen on the inside of the robe. The beads are size 11 Czech glass seed beads in colors of dark red, greasy blue, orange, green, white, dark brown, and greasy yellow. The colors are traditional to the Lakota people. Hat not included. Model: Andrea Bear King
