History and Team
Artspan was founded in 1999 by Eric Sparre, an artist, who wanted to address the problems artists faced in setting up websites. He saw a need for easy-to-manage low-cost elegant template websites combined with access to traffic. The first member site went up in early 2000 and we have been through 5 major redesigns. Other key people associated with Artspan include Caoimhin, our tech lead, responsible for all programming that runs on the back end of Artspan, with assistance from Rodney. Denise is the very helpful and knowledgeable head of customer service and runs our office. Mariana is our design head with Artun as web designer.. Finally, Nina Alvarez is our Portals and Articles Editor. Most have been with the company for four or more years and are committed to serving the visual arts community. Artspan also works with SEO (Search Engine Optimization) and P.R. consultants and with others.
