ABOUT ARTSPAN
The mission of Artspan is to serve the entire visual arts community:
Founded in 1999, Artspan is a major contemporary art destination and leading provider of premium artist websites. Artspan members are professional artists and artisans, whose sites show only original work and prints. The ease of using Artspan.com's search functions, combined with the quality of unique work, has made Artspan.com a preferred destination for collectors, consultants and designers, as well as anyone interested in the world of contemporary art.
Thanks to its consistently high search engine rankings and enhanced visibility, visitors are easily able to find Artspan.com, as well as its members' sites. Each individual member site has its own domain name, which can be reached by simply entering the domain name in the browser search window. Sites can also be accessed by way of Artspan.com's homepage, through keyword and category searches, as well as alphabetical, regional and category/subcategory directories. Member work can also be found on the Portals pages, which serve as gateways to resources associated with distinct genres, media and regions.
Artspan now features two unique ecommerse sections: ArtspanSHOP Originals, with original work including painting, photography, ceramics, sculpture, jewelry and more, and ArtspanSHOP Prints, featuring archival pigment prints on demand. Buyers are able to browse original work and prints that are for sale, from among the hundreds of thousands of art works showcased on the Artspan member websites. Connecting buyers with artists has never been easier.
The individual member websites are easy to set up and manage and are completely customizable. Members have the one-click option of choosing from among the 100 Ready-Made designs or they can use these designs as a starting point and then adapt the layout, fonts, colors, backrounds, and logos to suit their individual needs and visions. Artspan offers its members a low cost but complete martketing package encompassing the website, buyer and visitor traffic and marketing info and help. It also provides a high level of member support via email and phone.
Eric Sparre
Founder and Managing Director
Artspan.com grew out of Eric's experience (and difficulties) in setting up a website in 1995. He was an artist for many years, exhibited widely, and was reviewed in the major art magazines. He considers Artspan to be the most challenging experience of his life.
Caoimhin Barry
Chief Operating Officer
Caoimhin Barry - a descendant of Dublin with titanic skill. Despite being hampered by a distinctly un-american name has managed to successfully integrate into Artspan, bringing a much needed accent variation to the team. He's responsible for developing many great features but is not responsible for any bugs.
Sarah Hucal
Content Editor & Marketing Manager
When she's not busy traveling to far off lands or singing opera, Sarah works as Artspan's Marketing Manager. Coming from a performing arts and editorial background, Sarah relishes the opportunity to take her love of contemporary art to a professional level, by spreading the word about Artspan and writing captivating art-related articles. In her free time, Sarah enjoys attending classical music concerts and perfecting parkour techniques.
Denise Glover
Manager, Administrative Services
Denise Glover started out as an Artspan member back in 2002, back when she still had time to make art. She lives in Bucks County PA and keeps member support and the Artspan office on track and running smoothly.
Kim Kraft
Tech Team
Kim Kraft (no relation to the Mac n Cheese folk) brings his own brand of "geekery" and over a decade of programming experience to the team. His primary tasks include fixing the bugs that Caoimhin didn't develop as well as generating new ones of his own, and he is single-handedly responsible for increasing the average hair length of the ArtSpan staff by 42%.
Chris Marano
Tech Team
After working in the nonprofit world for nine-plus years Chris has joined the Artspan team. Most of the days Chris spends his time trying to understand what Caoimhin is saying and fighting off the jealousy of Kim's long hair, since he doesn't have much of his own. When Chris is not adding to the list of bugs that Caoimhin and Kim didn't create, he is chauffeuring his daughter to one of her daily activities or training his two loyal companions Bo, a Coonhound, and Baron, a German Shepherd.
Mariana Sparre
Designer
An artist and designer, Mariana is intimately involved in the continued evolution of the Artspan site design, and in advertising and creating new member templates. Her free time is spent caring for her pet groundhog, Phillipe.
Danielle Kraft
Customer Service
"Service, in short, is not what you do, but who you are. It is a way of living that you need to bring to everything you do, if you are to bring it to your customer interactions." - Betsy Sanders
