Janice Pluma Contemporary art

Exuberance

Acrylic on Gallery Wrap Canvas.

This series explores the topics of transition and contrast in both art and life. The themes, directly drawn from nature, are symbolic of the complex connection between earth and the internal world of humankind. Valuable lessons are learned from the ecosystems and seasonal cycles.

On an emotional level, the paintings are a reminder of the importance of maintaining balance. Powerful internal energies can be tempered with peaceful introspection, ultimately resulting in personal growth.

The paint application follows the cosmic principles of Yin and Yang. Subdued tonal brushwork is combined with rough impasto applied with a palette knife. Touches of saturated color are juxtaposed with muted hues in each composition.
