How do I update/manage my website?

You can manage all aspects of your site from your easily-navigable control panel, including your homepage, artwork library, galleries, design layouts, marketing tools, social media network and more.

Can I buy my own domain name, or use one that I already have?

Yes, through Artspan you can purchase a domain name (such as yourname.com) for $15.89 per year. If you already have a domain name, we can help you redirect it to your Artspan site. Our ProPlus package includes a free domain name.

How do visitors find my work?

Through our unique two-tiered system, visitors can go directly to your site or they can access your site via our home page. Built-in SEO on each individually branded website attracts traffic. And search functions on our home page allow people to find your work by category, medium, subject, region, and artist directory. If you offer your work for sale in our originals or prints shops, the search can be further refined by price, palette, keywords, and more. Every image in our shops connects to a Product Page with more thumbnails of your work and a direct link to your website.

We also feature member work in our Collections, Articles, Blogs and online group shows. We share your art on our extensive social media network, through Facebook, Instagram, Pinterest, Tumblr and Twitter. We are the only website builder to work with you to build your career.

Does Artspan have any features I cannot find somewhere else?

Yes! Artspan is the only artist website provider to include Prints-on-Demand at no extra cost. We are also the first to introduce Augmented Reality at NO cost with our Live Preview feature. Unique to us is the ease of its use and applicability to different interiors. It’s of real use to buyers makes their decision much easier. We also include email marketing tools in our professional plans, and we include a full annual design and SEO audit on our Professional Plus plan. This is only a partial list: no one else does anything like this for artists.

Does Artspan help protect me from scams?

Artspan is the only artist website provider that takes both scams and spam very seriously. Every order that comes into our system is reviewed by our staff to make sure it is safe to ship out your art. Nobody wants to send their artwork to an unknown location, so we watch for red flags in this process and let you know any suspicions we may have. Shipping insurance is advised on all high-priced original art. We also review comments posted about your art to filter out potential online abuse, and we are constantly hardening our security to keep your personal information completely safe and private.

What is SEO? How will Artspan help me attract visitors to my site?

SEO stands for "search engine optimization," and describes the process of attracting traffic to your site via search engines such as Google, Bing, and Yahoo. Your Artspan site offers built-in SEO. We make it easy for you to add search-engine-friendly browser titles for each page on your site. How can I promote my Artspan site via Social Media?

You can add icons to your Artspan site so that people can follow you on Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, Tumblr, Linked-in, or Google Plus. You can also add a "Pin-it" button and a Facebook "like" button. And you can enable a strip of social media icons at the bottom of every page on your site, so that visitors can easily share that page through Facebook, Twitter, StumbleUpon and many more.

Do you offer password-protected galleries?

You can set up private galleries that can only be accessed with a password that you supply. These galleries facilitate interactions with specific clients--share proofs of photographs, track progress on commissions, and offer special pricing.

Can I see how many people visit my site?

Yes. You can see how many people are visiting your site, their global location and which pages they view, by accessing the Stats section in your control panel.

What is Augmented Reality/Live Preview and how can it help me sell more art?

With our Live Preview feature, buyers can preview your art directly in their own home. No imaginary stock photos of perfect apartments...the real environment they will be placed in. Using just an ordinary web browser on their phone (no App install!) - Buyers can choose the best location for a piece, the right size, and the perfect frame&mat combination to match the lighting in the room! Artspan websites include this feature for free!

Can I sell my art through my site?

Yes! Buyers can find your art from the Artspan marketplace or go directly to your site. Sell originals through your fully integrated shopping cart. We take care of credit card processing and help you calculate sales tax and shipping fees. You can sell prints of your work through our Prints-on-Demand program.

What is Prints-on-Demand?

No other website builder offers this service! You provide the art and we take care of archival-quality-printing, matting and shipping. You upload the image files and choose the sizes you want to offer and the prices you want to charge. Buyers can come to your website and order custom-made prints of your artwork. We ship the print directly to the customer and send you your payment! Our prints are the highest quality crafted with environmentally-friendly materials.

Does Artspan charge a commission for work sold?

There is no commission for work sold to buyers who go directly to your site. There is an industry-low 10% commission on sales to buyers who find your work through the Artspan Shops.

We have to pay the credit card fee (around 2.5%), so that is the only thing we take out.

If I get a free trial, why do I need to enter my credit card information?

Entering your credit card information ensures that you will have uninterrupted service and helps us to verify your contact information. Your credit card will not be charged during the initial trial and you can cancel at any time during the free trial.

Is my site live during the free trial?

Yes, your site is live from the minute you sign up.

How can you protect my art from copyright infringement?

We don't allow high resolution versions of your images to be accessible. We keep those image files internally for use with Prints-on-Demand and/or to enable a magnification tool on your site. The image that can be downloaded does not have adequate resolution for a quality print, so nobody will make any money off your work. On top of this, our Professional and Pro+ Plans include automatic image watermarking. So, if your image is shared on the internet, you will always get the credit.

If I need help, can I talk to someone?

Yes! We have expert and friendly customer support people. You can contact the help desk by phone (in the U.S. +1.609.397.0888 or via Skype by appointment) email ([email protected]) or you can access live chat or open a ticket in your Control Panel. We are there to serve you.

How do I sell originals?

To sell your work, all you need to do is provide a price, and the dimensions (height, width, depth). Buyers will visit artspan.com, or go directly to your website. They will use the Live Preview to see how the work will look in the space they want to place it in. They add to cart, and use a credit card or paypal to buy it. Artspan reviews the order and once approved, we send you payment and you can ship your art to the customer. We provide the full customer details for your records, and you are free to talk to the customer directly. Most other sites keep the buyer details secret, so you can never engage with your customer directly.

At Artspan we want to empower our artists, and do not abide by such self-serving practices.

What about sales tax?

You don't need to worry about charging the right amount of sales tax and staying within the law. Artspan was the first website provider to include automatic sales tax calculations in the US, Canada, and EU. When a buyer purchases art from you, we determine if sales tax needs to be charged, and include this in the buyer's cost. We pass this tax on to you, the seller. You then review at the year’s, and remit this to your tax authority. Soon, we'll be able to file automatically for you, even less to worry about!
