Rheas, Patagonia

Acrylic on canvas.

The Rhea is a large flightless bird (cousin to the ostrich and emu) that inhabits the rolling plains of Patagonia. They are a fixture of the landscape, like their neighbors, the guanaco (related to the llama) and are part of what makes this a unique environment.
