Oliver Perry

Dancing under dangerous skies.

'In the end we will remember not the words of our enemies, but the silence of our friends.'
Dr Martin Luther King Jr.

Sadly sometimes silence is the only option.

Let me explain.

I like many others have seen a stream of gruesome images through social media feed and the news.
Pictures and stories that are simply horrific.
But what stunned me into gobsmacked silence wasn’t the image of a man holding the shattered remains of a child but the comment that followed.
The response.

Three crying with laughter emojis.

I found that staggering.
It filled me with fear, shame and dread.
And absolute dumbfounded silence.
If that’s what you think, if that’s your reaction, what hope does mankind have.

I think I’ve lost faith in humanity.
