Acrylic on primed, stretched canvas.
Morning Walk features a wide, shadowed footpath dominating the foreground, and curving gracefully through the painting into a narrow opening at the top edge. The expansive middle ground contains the emptiness of the current moment, with shapes emerging at the edges to hint at the normalcy of life resuming. Glimpses of soft pink and orange are sprinkled into the dominant green color palette.
The focus is on entering and moving forward to a future horizon, while also witnessing the potential of any remarkable moment in which the inherent beauty and grace of life can overtake us.
The reference photo for this painting was taken in Namibia, a sparsely populated, often barren, and also spaciously beautiful country along the southwest coast of Africa, as we headed out for a safari drive in the golden morning light.
