This is the quote from George Floyd has Minneapolis police knelt on his neck for over eight minutes before he died. It is the rallying cry for the protests that have sprung up around the world over his death at the hands of police and the greater questions of systemic racism and police brutality. In Richmond, VA the protest have been focused on the Confederate Monuments as a symbol of the celebration of figures who personify the legacy of racism. This painting has been painted over an old (less successful) painting that feature one of those same monuments. This work has been created using Shiva Paintstiks on 100% rag paper.
