Bob Brown
Bob Brown is a Colorado-based visual artist whose work explores the relationship between memory, landscape, and abstraction. Working primarily in acrylic paint and graphite pencil, Bob’s pieces evoke the essence of a place rather than its literal form, inviting viewers to engage with texture, space, and emotion. Born in New York and raised across Spain, South Africa, Switzerland, and Indonesia, Bob’s life of constant movement shaped his artistic vision. His work is deeply rooted in the act of observing and internalizing his surroundings, translating them into layered, tactile compositions that feel both familiar and intangible. Using palette knives instead of brushes, Bob builds richly textured acrylic paintings that echo erosion, weather, and movement. His pencil drawings, composed of intricate marks and gestures, resemble maps, aerial views, and the impressions left by memory. Each piece serves as a visual reflection of a place lived in or passed through. Now based in Northern Colorado’s Front Range, Bob has exhibited his work locally and internationally. His paintings and drawings are held in both private and public collections, and he frequently collaborates with art consultants, designers, and collectors to create site-specific commissions for residential, commercial, and public spaces.
