“Peter Scaturro's recent watercolors, the UNKNOWING Series (2014-15) and the PRESENCE Series (2012-15) are very large watercolors. Art Critic Dewitt Cheng has posted on Facebook; “…Scaturro’s…. watercolors have the intensity and weight of oils; great color harmony and rhythm too….”. These Expressionist abstractions were produced with spontaneous painterly energy and make us think of the Abstract Expressionist canvases created by Kandinsky a hundred years ago, and pursued in the "all-over" compositions by the American post-War painters, who, as the critic Harold Rosenberg pronounced, used their canvases (or paper) as an "arena in which to act". Similarly, but with a 21st Century outlook, Scaturro produces pictures which suggest luminous organic forms, done with pulsating colors”.

“Peter Scaturro's abstract paintings in watercolor achieve a stunning brilliance of color and light combined with a sharp clarity of form that give the viewer the feeling of looking through medieval stained glass. The impact is highly effective in creating a sense of the mystery of a spiritual reality beyond, as well as a powerful delineation of the structured world we live in.” Sue Steel ,Curator Mythos Gallery, Berkeley, Ca. 2017
