Alif Laila
Alif Laila is an internationally performing sitar player and painter. She was born and brought up in Dhaka Bangladesh. She has received intense training and grooming in sitar ( Indian classical music) and art from childhood. She was always fascinated by watercolor painting. Laila has a Bachelor Of Fine Arts degree from the Fine Arts Department of University of Dhaka. She received the Best Watercolor Award while specializing in painting and drawing there. Laila finds a magical bond between Indian classical music and watercolor. Both forms of expression are highly spontaneous and improvisational. The flow of both the mediums decides the outcome of the composition. Laila has presented her watercolor painting projections at her sitar performances at venues such as the Kennedy Center- Wash DC, Purcel Room , South Bank -London, Shilpakala Academy - Dhaka, Atlas Performing Arts Center - Wash DC. Her paintings depict the moods of the ragas she performs.
