Charles Sherman
Los Angeles-based sculptor and jewelry designer Charles Sherman has studied ancient civilizations, world cultures and religions, and sacred geometry. Born in Atlantic City in 1947, Charles Sherman’s creative spirit led him from drawing and painting to sculpture and jewelry design. In 2002 he began investigating sculptural forms that express the concept of infinity, especially the three-dimensional Möbius form, or infinity ring. He has interpreted the infinity ring form in sculptures made of ceramic, bronze, stainless steel, and glass mosaic. His most recent infinity ring work includes the monumental ceramic sculpture Love Letters, a double tetrahedron X, a kiss and infinity ring O, a hug that playfully expresses a message that everyone immediately understands; the universal theme of Love. Beginning in 2006, after many requests from friends, Sherman began translating his sculptures into sterling silver jewelry designs. Beyond their simple beauty, each design has meaning and expresses a spiritual concept. Charles Sherman’s philosophy of life and art is the same: to promote the positive. His infinity ring sculptures and jewelry designs express love, abundance, healing, harmony, and serenity.
