I am an American artist currently living in Murrieta California. I create mixed medi a paintings generally with acrylic and may incorporate paper collage and found objects.I use a variety of tools to create textures, line and depth within the paintings to engage the viewer to interact and discover the unique possibilities one may see and encouraged to feel. I use an intuitive approach to each canvas to convey emotional responses of past, present and future tenses through the form of abstraction. Influenced by thought provoking mysteries of the unknown, I form colorful dreamscapes and visions of spontaneous splashes of paint that help create improvisational worlds within our subconscious universe. I utilize any medium I can to express my emotional responses to the world around us and the corresponding ideas in my minds eye. Whether I use acrylic, watercolor, oil paint, charcoal, digital tools or my photographic eye, I feel the need to be free to choose the medium that suits the creative expression for each individual work of art alone or in a series. I identify as an artist, drummer/percussionist and am known to write a poem here and there. I strongly believe I have been born to share this gift with the world and experience the journey of art making in whichever form I can. On this website and other forms of social media I intend for Shawn McCain Creative (SMC) to document my creative journey with you so we can try to make sense of this fleeting glimpse, we call art.
