Aelthelflaed Flees from the Viking attack at her palace at Chippenham

When the Vikings attacked the royal palace at Chippenham, Aethelflaed who was about 7 at the time, fled with her family. The beacon burning in the top right hand corner represents the warning sign.
The jewelled broach is based on one found at Sutton Hoo. I think the beads are typical of the time whereas the embroidery on her sleeves is based on an anglo saxon stone carving.
