Racing the storm

Acrylic on canvas, signed in the lower right corner. Hanging hardware is included.
This is a new original art painting. It is an original landscape acrylic painting on a stretched canvas.
I was inspired to paint this piece after a recent vacation to Martha’s Vineyard. While I was out by the water, I captured a photograph of several sailboats scattered across the horizon just as a dark, powerful storm began to roll in. The contrast between the graceful white sails and the looming gray sky stayed with me long after I left the island.
In Racing the Storm, I wanted to capture that specific moment of tension and urgency. I used bold, sweeping brushstrokes to convey the movement of the wind and the choppy water as the sailors hurried to reach safety before the squall hit. For me, this painting isn't just about the boats; it’s about that raw, electric feeling of being at the mercy of the elements. This is a one-of-a-kind original landscape art piece that reflects my personal experience of the coast.

This original acrylic painting is currently available for sale through my Artspan gallery"
