Ogunquit Maine

Acrylic on gallery-wrapped canvas, signed in the lower right corner. Hanging hardware is included.
I was inspired to paint this piece after a hike on Ogunquit, Maine’s iconic Marginal Way, a winding coastal path that intimately hugs the curves of the Atlantic Ocean. This original landscape painting captures a charming residential scene along that rugged shoreline, where the coastal architecture meets the sea.
The style of this work is Post-Impressionistic or Fauvist, characterized by thick, visible brushstrokes and a vibrant, expressive use of color. While the perspective is somewhat flattened to emphasize the interplay of shapes, the composition remains clearly defined, leading the viewer’s eye along the rocky coast. By blending my signature geometric and cubist-inspired structure with the atmospheric light of the Maine coast, I’ve tried to recreate the unique energy of one of New England’s most beloved vistas.
