Diamonds And Rust

This wall assemblage is a tribute to lost loves. Like dream catchers that capture bad dreams while allowing the good ones to pass through to the sleeper, this one captures past regrets yet allows happy memories to pass through to us daydream believers.

Our memories of the past sparkle like diamonds, but soon turn to rust when met by the realities of the present. They can then prick the soul and penetrate the heart causing bittersweet tears to flow.

This assemblage was inspired by the song of the same name written by Joan Baez about the failed reconciliation of her star-crossed romance with Bob Dylan.

All objects used are metaphoric symbols and all are of 1960-70s vintage. The hippy hat (once named Arlo) was worn by the artist a lifetime ago. May this piece allow your memories of the past to remain bright without the pain of unnecessary regrets. Wishing you sweet dreams always.
