Merrilee Drakulich Contemporary Paintings

After Constable #3

One of my affectionate interpretations of the English romantic landscape paintings of John Constable.

Some years ago, I painted several oil sketches taking inspiration from the English romantic landscape paintings of John Constable. Years later, I used the sketches, mounted them on canvas, and painted them with bright color borders. The borders were reminiscent of my time in Jamaica where I lived for many years. The brightness contrasts well with the quiet sketches, thus the English countryside is raging with more exotic colors.

The oil painting is on a canvas that is affixed to a 30-inch x 40-inch oil painted canvas.

The painting is on a 1.5-inch deep stretcher frame with the sides of the canvas painted and is ready for hanging.

Painting is signed and dated on the back of the canvas (2011).
