When I recently visited Hawaii last spring, I stayed at a hotel that had a beautiful pond filled with koi. A trade wind was rustling the water, creating changing reflections of the surrounding environment around the pond, including the light and shadow interspersed with the beautiful fish. I knew I had to paint the scene.
