Bridal Tribute

"Bridal Tribute" is laden with Tunisian symbols and traditional objects that are gifts for the bride. These objects are worn or used in events leading up to the wedding. I think of this as a belated basket for myself. The Tunisian heritage of my husband is embraced while I remain true to my American heritage through the red, white, and blue. My composition is designed on the eight-pointed star of the Islamic tradition as well as the American quilt pattern of the radiant star. The placement of the North African objects decorate the design to keep your eye searching. These delicate details echo the feminine while the dramatic contrast between the lighter tones, the deep reds, and the night sky sing of celebration, drama and happiness.
