Are We There Yet?

This artwork features an imaginative and playful composition of three grizzly bears stacked on top of each other. The mother bear at the bottom is partially submerged in water, with the waterline visible and the reflection of the bear's face gently rippling on the water's surface.

Above it, the second bear is seated and facing forward, its mouth open in what could be perceived as a playful gesture or a yawn. The topmost bear is standing upright with a composed and serene facial expression, gazing calmly forward. These two bear cubs are hitching a ride. Like typical kids they are anxious to reach their destination.

The painting is rich in detail, displaying the texture of the bears' fur and capturing the reflection of the submerged bear on the water's surface, which adds a sense of realism to the otherwise whimsical arrangement. The background is understated but provides context, with the suggestion of a tranquil, wilderness lake setting, hinted at by the water and forested land in the distance under a soft sky.

Overall, the piece is both lifelike in its portrayal of the animals and imaginative in its unique stacking composition, which might convey a sense of the interconnectedness of nature or a playful twist on wildlife portraiture.

The choice of colors is quite naturalistic, with warm brown tones for the bears' fur and cooler blues and greens for the water and landscape, creating a peaceful yet intriguing atmosphere.

The artwork conveys a sense of tranquility and the natural world, juxtaposed with the somewhat surreal and anthropomorphic positioning of the bears in a totem-like structure, suggesting themes of interconnectedness in nature or possibly a commentary on hierarchical relationships within the animal kingdom.

The original oil painting is 48"H x 36"W x 1.5"D on gallery wrap canvas.
