Lit Magic

“Lit Magic”
Oil on Linen
While visiting Poland on an early autumn evening I came upon this street in the rain right after sunset. I was amazed and taken by the ethereal way the atmosphere felt and by the stunning purple colors. I immediately knew this was something I wanted to capture and paint!
The figures in the painting are in laws who lived in that town and the story goes of a mother in law on her way to scold her son in law for having a bit too much to drink, hence the vodka bottle on the ground. The mother in law being a particularly godly woman casts a shadow in the shape of a cross.
