Disjointed Metropolis

Several years ago I was living in a large, densely populated center where cityscape panoramas and never ending construction dominated.

A mix of old and new structures, colors and architectural design styles. One in front of the other, another tall building towering over yet another.

The extent of this kind of development has become absurd- certain streets and neighborhoods, made up of a hodgepodge mix of retail, residential and corporate structure. From afar, especially with the addition of smog, the stacked and layered effect is quite the sight.

I chose to interpret that here in a somewhat whimsical manner, resulting in the Disjointed Metropolis.

The original painting is acrylic paint with elements of graphite and pigment pen linework. On canvas, 38 inch x 38 inch. It has been sold but various sized prints are available for purchase.

The prints differ from the original in that there has been some digital editing to enhance the gritty "patchwork" effect of colors and buildings in the composition.
