The Collection

My idea of a bit of whimsy and storytelling combining together to create a happy ending. The beautiful butterflies escape confinement and death by chewing their way out to fly away into freedom... This is painted in the traditional Trompe l'oeil tradition, making it look like a real butterfly collection. The frame is actually painted as well, so I could create the illusion of the backing being opened to the sky and freedom.
